昆明中美二战友谊公园简介

 

During the Second World War which to decide the destiny of mankind ,and during the hardest years of the War of Resistance Against Japan, the Yunnan people of all nationalities maintained the most important strategic highway between China and the Allies. Then Kunming and Yunnan became the largest strategic base for the Chinese and the Allies to fight shoulder to shoulder against Japanese fascists. The officers and soldiers including China Expeditionary Army and American Flying Tigers Team built up a way to victory with their lives and blood and attained the epic heroic deeds and composed a song of friendship with joint combat by the Chinese people and American people.

In order to strengthen the great Allies of the Chinese and the Americans in Resistance Against Japan fascists, to recall those officers and soldiers of China and the Allies who had laid down their lives in the battlefield of Resistance against Japan and to realize the grand strategy for the world people to seek peace and development and to establish a harmonious world ,on the basis of deliberation and planning for more than a decade, a group of Chinese with breadth of vision put forward the concept to build China-US WWII Friendship Park in Kunming, China .This proposal has been won common knowledge and support from most Chinese and overseas persons.

The top levels of China and United States as well governments of Yunnan Province and Kunming City have paid close attention to this project. Kunming City has decided to offer land for construction of a large-scaled topic forest park in downtown, New Kunming where maintains are green and water is clear. In the park, memorial trees will be planted for every historic person in China–Burma-India Theater of WWII. Besides, there will be a China-US Friendship and Peace Gate, a Monument to the Militant Friendship forged in Resistance against Japanese fascists, a History Museum for China-Burma-India Theater, a Memorial Square for China–US Friendship, a Memorial Wall for US Armymen in China during WWII and Yunnan Resistance Against Japan, Memorial forests for US Airmen and Armymen with Yunnan people during WWII in the park. Among the memorial forests, there will be Flying Tigers Forest, China Expeditionary Amry Forest ,Yunnan Army Forest ,Overseas Mechanics Forest ,Yunnan –Burma Highway Forest, Stilwell Highway Forest , China-India Oil Pipeline Forest , Southwest United University Forest and Yunnan Nationalities Resisting Japan Guerrilla Forest ,etc.

Kuning is a historically and culturally-famous city for more than one thousand years. It was the headquarters of China-Burma-India Theater during WWII. It was also a base camp of the famous Flying Tigers Team. It was the east starting point of Yunnan–Burma Highway, Stilwell highway, the Hump Airline and China-India Oil Pipeline as well as the place where China Expeditionary Army was to pledge resolution to defend their motherland and the hub city to connect China with Southeast Asia and South Asia. According to the total plan, there will be six express highways and five railways from Kunming to foreign countries. Kunming now has built up a modern containers transfer station which is the largest in west part of China .And at present, a first –rate airport in Central and West China in being constructed in Kunming. In the future, international water way and land transportation will be direct to the Pacific Ocean and the Indian Ocean. To be adapting to development of the regional central city in the world, Kunming is constructing a plateau water city around 300 square kilomaters Dianchi Lake. China-US WWII Friendship Park will be a green pearl and a cultural gem in this water city of Yunnan-guizhou Plateau. And establishment of this park will be the dynamic in establishing a harmonious world.

In the process of deliberation, planning and preparation of China-US  WWII Friendship Park,it has been widely supported by all walks of life both in China and in the world. Yunnan Provincial Government approved to the finding of China-US WWII Friendship Park Construction Administrative Commission, the Standing Vice-governor of Yunnan Province volunteers to be the group leader  of the provincial guide group for the construction of the park..Yunnan Provincial Civil Administration approved the finding of Yunnan China-US WWII International Friendship Foundation. And a joint-venture company consisting of several big companies from Yunnan, Guangdong, China and from Australia and Thailand has been established for developing and construction of China-US WWII Friendship Park. China Real Estate Group Corp., China Railway Materials Group Corp., Guangzhou Yuexiu City Construction Investment Group Corp., Australian Wailan Landmark Group Corp., and Thailand Win+win Group Corp., have become strategic cooperators and members of developing team of the park. US National Park Fund, SAAHF, Swiss Sakura and Plum Investment Group Corp., Sun Yat-sen Foundation (Hong Kong) have been reached agreements to collect project funds for the park .

Yunnan China-US WWII International Friendship Foundation is a non-profit organization for public welfare project. Its main function is to collect funds for construction and management of China-US WWII Friendship Park .The foundation wishes to collect funds and memorial objects from all peace-loving people and organizations the world over. Anyone who donates funds and objects and anyone who makes contributions to collection of funds and objects for the park will be praised and acknowledged in China-US WWII Friendship Park, with their names engraved in stone tablets and recorded in the history of the park..

The initiators and builders of China-US WWII Friendship Park are NGO persons who are enthusiastic in promoting public welfare, advocate that China and US always keep friendly relationship and seek for a harmonious world. They have been working diligently and without any complain and regretting .They have paid a lot of time, energy and money for planning and promoting the establishment of the park.  We sincerely hope the people of the United States and the people of the world to join hands with us to bring this grand and glorious goal into reality.
